SFI Fund

Funded on 23rd January 1984 under the name “Securities and Futures Institute (SFI)”, the funds were donated by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSEC), 14 securities brokers and 14 banks with securities business concurrently operated by financial institutions on a pro rata basis. They contributed the income of securities brokerage and commissions to the funds and stopped the contribution by the authority (Securities and Futures Commission, SFC) on 16th October 1987.

The funds were initially only 1.5 million NT dollars but have increased to 500 million NT dollars in May 1988. The board of directors decided to transfer 30 million NT dollars from accumulated surplus into the funds in January 1993. Later in 1996, a 100 million NT dollars funds named “ Securities and Futures Markets International Development Fund “ was established for improving the development of securities and futures in international markets. The board of directors again transferred 30 million NT dollars from accumulated surplus into the funds in April 2002. The total funds are currently 660 million NT dollars (US$18.9 million dollars, 1USD=35NTD, at the end of year 2002).
